On August 17, Schulz posted a still image showing a shadowy figure on a sidewalk with Cody Rhodes’ entrance music playing in the background. The photo featured the caption: “A NEW WARRIOR HAS ENTERED…”—a clear nod to the Street Fighter franchise. But what really got people talking is the timing.
Filming for the new Street Fighter movie isn’t even underway yet. WWE sources previously mentioned that production is slated to begin in September, and Cody’s on-set commitment is expected to be short. That means this teaser likely wasn’t from the actual set, leading fans to wonder: was this an early costume reveal, or just a tone-setting marketing drop?
What’s clear is that Cody Rhodes is very much involved in the film alongside other wrestling powerhouses like Roman Reigns and possibly NJPW legend Hirooki Goto. While WWE creative isn’t expected to suffer from the filming commitments, this early teaser is proof that the company may be gearing up to tie it all together with some cross-promotional hype.
