Colby Covington defeats Luke Rockhold and targets UFC GOAT after first victory since 2022

On Saturday night, Colby Covington picked up his first win in nearly four years.

The former interim welterweight champion has dropped his last two fights inside the UFC.

‘Chaos’ has not had an MMA win since he went the distance with Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272 back in March 2022.

But Covington did manage to get a notable victory over the weekend at Real American Freestyle 05.

Covington and Luke Rockhold spent some time in the lead-up to RAF 05 talking up a potential future clash with Bo Nickal.

Just a few days later, the former UFC interim champion was back in action, this time taking on Rockhold himself in a wrestling matchup.

The ex-UFC middleweight titleholder could not keep pace with Covington, who quickly raced out to a 12-0 lead before the contest ended via technical fall.

Afterwards, Covington called for his next opponent to be none other than Georges St-Pierre. The Canadian legend has not fought since beating Michael Bisping at UFC 217 back in November 2017.

“You know who I want next? There’s only one person above me on the takedown list in UFC welterweight history, and that’s Georges St-Pierre.

“GSP, get out here in Real American Freestyle and let’s make it happen.

“I’ll talk to my people, and they’ll come to your people, and let’s make it happen.

“Everybody wants to see you, GSP,” Covington stated.

Georges St-Pierre open to a return under the right circumstances

Back in April 2025, Georges St-Pierre said he would be open to returning, but only if the situation was right.

“I’m trying to get back 100%,” he GSP began by saying.

“If it’s for a good cause, I mean, I would never fight again in mixed martial arts.

“Trying to prove I’m the strongest man, this is over. But, if it’s for an event like a special event, maybe a charity involved, for the fans something fun like grappling, the risk of injury are minimized.

“I still like to compete, but for different reasons. Maybe not, I don’t close the door on that.”
