Colby Covington offers ‘slime bag’ Tyron Woodley shot at redemption

by

Colby Covington is revisiting his history with Tyron Woodley.

Covington stopped Woodley by TKO due to injury in their UFC Fight Night 178 main event in September 2020. Woodley went on to compete just one more time in the octagon before venturing into boxing.

The former welterweight champion is coming off a TKO loss to Anderson Silva last Friday at Kaseya Center in Miami, dropping to 0-3 in boxing. Meanwhile, Covington meets Luke Rockhold in a freestyle wrestling match Jan. 10 at RAF 5 from Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Fla., and he wants Woodley next.

“Damn, Woodley, how the mighty have fallen,” Covington said on his YouTube channel. “I know people like to say, ‘Don’t kick a man while he’s down.’ It’s in poor taste. But personally I say that’s the best time to kick a slime bag like you because you’re easier to reach. You used to fight for championships. Now you’re out here selling the last of your dignity taking beatings from YouTubers and geriatrics so you can pay off your baby mamas. You should be retired on a beach somewhere drinking mai tais. Instead, you’re face down, ass up in a boxing ring posing for Dude Wipes promos.

“I know you’ve got mouths to feed, Woodley. I know your brand is at an all-time low. We all know you need the money. I’ve always been here to pick you up when you’re down, Tyron, so let me help you one more time. Quit boxing because you never were a boxer. You were an All-American and Big 12 champion in wrestling. Come on over to Real American Freestyle, and after I mop the mat with Luke Rockhold on January 10th, you could take your chance at redemption. Let me put you out of your misery and end you for good. You know how to contact my people. Give them a call.”

Covington (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) hasn’t competed in the octagon since a stoppage loss to Joaquin Buckley in December 2024. The former interim champion is on the first losing skid of his career after dropping back-to-back to Leon Edwards then Buckley.
