Colby Covington shuts down ‘quitter’ Bo Nickal’s callout

by

SUNRISE, Fla. – Don’t hold your breath for a Colby Covington vs. Bo Nickal MMA fight or wrestling match.

Covington, a veteran UFC welterweight, has shut down any possibility of facing Nickal on the mats or in the octagon following his win in his return to the wrestling world. Covington defeated former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in the main event of RAF 05 Saturday at Amerant Arena. After the bout, at the post-match press conference, Covington made it clear he has no interest in competing with Nickal.

“Oh, the quitter Bo ‘Nickles’? I call him ‘Bozo Nickles,'” Covington told MMA Junkie and other reporters. “He bailed on RAF last fight, he bailed against (Yoel) Romero on this one. How can he ever? I mean, he quit in his last fight. Actually, I want to apologize to Reiner de Ridder because I called him a Dutch kickboxer, but my bad, he’s actually a grappler, so a grappler made Bo quit in the octagon.

“Bo is a quitter. I don’t have time for quitters. He can get in line because there’s a long list of people who want to compete against me. I want guys that are dependable, guys that are company men. I love RAF. Freestyle s the future of American wrestling. I want guys that are dependable, and I know are going to show up. ‘Bozo Nickles’ is not that guy.”

Nickal was scheduled to compete at RAF 05 against MMA and wrestling legend Romero. However, Romero missed weight by seven pounds, and Nickal decided to not take the match against the 48-year-old.

Covington was disappointed to see Nickal not proceed with the match despite the weight miss. He sees it as a sign of being unreliable, and says that’s a reason why he’s uninterested in the potential match.

“You want to be the face of the organization? You have to be a company man,” Covington said. “He misses weight by a couple of pounds? Big deal. Luke was 20, 30 pounds bigger than me, and I didn’t complain. I went up a weight class. I weighed 197 with ankle weights on my feet and eating the night before in Mar-a-Lago with Donald Trump. I stepped up. It didn’t matter. ‘Bozo Nickles’ has no reason to be talking any sh*t. He should stop quitting in the octagon before he ever speaks my name again.”
