A notable college basketball analyst provided a raving review of the Spartans’ newest commitment in the 2026 class.
Michigan State basketball picked up its first commitment of the 2026 class on Friday, with four-star point guard Carlos Medlock Jr. announcing his pledge to the Spartans. Medlock is a quickly rising prospect in the 2026 class, and ranks as the No. 10 point guard and No. 118 overall prospect in the 247Sports’ composite.

On Saturday morning, ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla provided some interesting insight on Medlock and how big of a commitment this could be for the Spartans. Fraschilla posted on social media X platform that an “NBA friend” of his has seen Medlock play this past spring and believes he is “one of the best point guards in the country.” That’s a pretty bold statement from someone who works in the NBA.

Michigan State basketball has always had strong leadership and play from the point guard position and it sounds like Medlock will be the next Spartans great. If anything, it sure sounds like that is the expectation from those who work in the college and professional basketball business.
