Coming off of a national runner-up finish, not many would have envisioned an 0-2 start for Notre Dame.
But that’s the reality head coach Marcus Freeman and his team face as it prepares for Purdue.
However, the immediate future may not be as bleak as some fans believe.

On his Always College Football podcast, college football analyst Greg McElroy says the Fighting Irish have been unlucky over their first two weeks of the season.
There has been a lot of talk about the porous defense under new coordinator Chris Ash despite so many talented pieces returning from last season. McElroy, though, disagrees that the Irish have a lack of pass rush, noting that defenders were close to Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed several times in the team’s loss last week.
The problem is close hasn’t cut it through two games, and the Irish will need help to get back into the 12-team CFP conversation.
McElroy said last year during its College Football Playoff run it seemed as if the football always bounced in ND’s favor, whereas this year thus far it has been the complete opposite. McElroy believes the Irish will ultimately be fine.

The question is: if it has been bad luck, when will it turn back into ND’s favor?
