College football rankings: Updated NCAA Top 25 polls after Texas, Penn State upsets in Week 6 originally appeared on The Sporting News
The 2025 college football season has been one of the wilder years in recent memory. The top three teams continue to take care of business, but everyone else feels like they could lose at any given time.

This week, No. 7 Penn State traveled across the country to face the winless UCLA Bruins. The Nittany Lions were down 27-7 at halftime but battled back in the second half. Still, when the dust settled, UCLA picked up its first win of the season, handing Penn State a surprising loss.
Texas went on the road to take on Florida in The Swamp. The Longhorns needed a strong game from Arch Manning and mostly got it. Texas fell behind early but fought back. They had a chance to drive the field and tie late, but with no timeouts, a mismanaged clock left them unable to set up a Hail Mary, resulting in Texas’ second loss of the year.
Previous No. 14 Iowa State lost its first game of the season on the road to Cincinnati. Meanwhile, No. 18 Florida State and No. 16 Vanderbilt suffered tough road losses, further shaking up the top 25 heading into Week 7.
Here are the latest NCAA polls after Week 6 of the 2025 college football season.
