The NCAA transfer portal closed two weeks ago, but Colorado may have just achieved its biggest win of the cycle on Wednesday night.
Former New Mexico State defensive lineman Ezra Christensen initially committed to the Buffs on January 9, but had not officially joined the program due to an eligibility issue. A report surfaced last week that he was unlikely to receive a waiver for another year because he had already played five seasons.

Everything changed on Wednesday when Colorado’s official X account announced that Christensen has signed with the Buffaloes.
The announcement comes after Christensen posted a picture on his Instagram story that appeared to show him on a flight over the Rocky Mountains. Clearly, he received the waiver and will be joining the Buffs for his final collegiate season.
Christensen joins a growing list of college players who are fighting the NCAA about whether junior college seasons should count toward eligibility.
Getting Christensen’s signature over the line is a massive win for Colorado, as he was arguably the top Group of Six defensive lineman in the transfer portal. In his lone season with New Mexico State, he racked up 11 tackles for loss and six sacks to go along with 42 total tackles. He also led the FBS with 28 quarterback hurries. Pro Football Focus gave Christensen the third-highest grade (88.9) among defensive tackles this past season.

Christensen’s addition gives the Buffaloes a high-level starting-caliber player who can rush the passer and play the run at an elite level, two traits Colorado’s defense severely lacked in 2025.
