With each passing couple months, the chances that Conor McGregor ever will fight in the UFC get slimmer and slimmer.
That’s not something the former fighter or his fans likely ever would admit, or the UFC brass, for that matter, but that’s just the cold, hard math.

And if a person purporting to be McGregor is to be trusted, there may be another hint now available about his future. On a video game live stream, a person who claimed to be McGregor and sounded like the Irishman said because of the UFC’s new broadcast deal with Paramount+, which eliminated the traditional pay-per-view model, his contract is, in essence, void and needs to be reworked.
That, the purported McGregor said, will take place in February.
In July, it will be five years since McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) last fought. He broke his leg in a second straight loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He coached Season 31 of “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite Michael Chandler (23-10 MMA, 2-5 UFC) and was supposed to fight him, but that never has come to fruition despite Chandler desperately pining for it, and McGregor consistently teasing it. UFC CEO Dana White recently took it off the table nearly entirely.

Sunday, the former UFC fighter continued his years-long spiral with a lengthy proclamation that he once again has seen the light – this time thanks to a hallucinogenic treatment in Mexico.
This past November, McGregor said he saw his own death, when it was going to happen, and how it would impact the four children he has with Dee Devlin, whom he recently married after years together. Then, he said, Jesus descended from heaven and put a crown on his head to save him during a hallucinogenic treatment in Mexico..
“To God, I am yours,” McGregor posted on social media. “Thank you for bestowing upon me this incredible blessing that I take with great care and absolute seriousness! I live my life per your word and nothing more.”
Last year, McGregor dropped out of a bid to become the next president of Ireland. He couldn’t get support to even get his name on the ballot, so he wasn’t actually in the race. McGregor has said he aspires to political office in the near future and has taken up a nationalistic right-wing rallying cry similar to Donald Trump in that pursuit. Like Trump, McGregor has multiple sexual assault accusations against him, and like Trump, a ruling against him for one, too.

McGregor was found liable for the 2018 sexual assault of Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel. Then McGregor lost his appeal to have the decision reversed. After that, McGregor made a plea to his countrywomen and countrymen to stand with him in the wake of the mountain of civil and criminal charges against him over the years, and the civil rape and sexual assault trial that came home to roost. A poll found that just 7 percent of people said they would vote for McGregor to be president of Ireland.
McGregor also is part-owner of the BKFC and his appearances at those events are regular.
