Cris Cyborg is skeptical the reportedly in-the-works boxing bout involving Ronda Rousey actually takes place.
Hours after news of a potential Rousey vs. Katie Taylor boxing match in 2026 was reported, Cyborg scoffed at the development on social media.

“I once saw Ronda Rousey shadow boxing and her shadow won!” Cyborg wrote Monday on X. “Zero chance she fights boxing. Maybe a return to the cage for a Gina Carano fight… but Ronda doesn’t belong anywhere near a boxing ring.”
The report did not state under which promotional banner Rousey vs. Taylor would take place but did say the fight has garnered attention from Netflix and would take place in Las Vegas.
Rousey, 38, has not competed in combat sports since December 2016, when she lost to Amanda Nunes by first-round TKO at UFC 207. She competed in WWE from 2017-2019, and then again after the birth of her first child from 2022-2023. In 2025, she gave birth to her second child.
The peaks of Rousey and Cyborg’s careers coincided with one another, but the two never fought – despite many fight fans crossing their fingers. Cyborg largely competed outside of the UFC during Rousey’s competitive tenure. Though there was a brief overlap in 2016, Cyborg competed at featherweight while Rousey was a bantamweight.
