Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have finally opened up on the reports of releasing Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, Sam Curran, and Devon Conway ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction.
The five-time champions – Chennai Super Kings – took to their official X handle to address the matter after the player release list of the franchise started going viral on social media on Friday, October 10.
CSK finished at the bottom in IPL 2025
Chennai Super Kings ended their Indian Premier League 2025 campaign in the tenth position on the points table. They won just four and lost 10 matches in the season and had a Net Run Rate of -0.647.

It was the first time CSK finished at the bottom of the points table in history, and also the first instance of the franchise missing out on playoffs for two back-to-back seasons.
Also, CSK lost against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home for the first time in 17 years and against the Delhi Capitals after 15 years. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad beat the Chennai Super Kings in their own backyard for the first time in history
And all these things happen under the watchful eyes of the legendary MS Dhoni. The original skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, was only able to participate in five matches in which he scored 122 runs at an average of 24.40 and a strike rate of 150.61 before getting ruled out of the competition. MS Dhoni took over the leadership midway through the season, but was unable to help his team produce a turnaround.
CSK breaks the silence on rumours of releasing Sam Curran and others
Recently, Cricbuzz released a report in which they provided some updates on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, which is scheduled to be held in December.
In the same report, it was mentioned that CSK are looking to release some big names from the squad to free up the purse and enter the auction with a big amount in the bag.
It was reported that the five-time champions are looking to release Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, Sam Curran, and Devon Conway. Also, Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement added INR 9.75 crore to their purse.
After the report went viral, CSK took to X to shut down the growing chatter. They shared a post which read, “Don’t worry, we’ve updated the bio,” and their new bio reads, “Nothing’s official till you see it here.”

Meanwhile, the IPL 2026 auction will reportedly be held in the December 13-15 window, and there is a high chance of the event being held in India itself this time around.
Everyone wanted to meet him, and when he heard about my injury, he reached out himself – Harleen Deol
Recently, the star India Women’s National Cricket Team batter Harleen Deol recalled her interaction with the India and Chennai Super Kings great MS Dhoni.
She revealed that MS Dhoni himself reached out to her after she had suffered a knee injury and had a lengthy chat, which motivated her during the difficult times.
“I got injured around the time he was in Ranchi. Everyone wanted to meet him, and when he heard about my injury, he reached out himself. He called me, and we ended up having a long, meaningful chat,” Harleen said in a video on ICC.
“It was incredible — especially at a time when things weren’t going well for me. He gave me so much motivation that day, and it was truly special,” Harleen added.
