Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricketer Chris Gayle recently revealed his favorite opponent to dominate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gayle also named two memorable T20 leagues across the world while ignoring tournaments such as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Big Bash League (BBL).
Chris Gayle, known as the โUniverse Boss,โ had been an explosive batter in T20 cricket. He scored over 14,500 runs in his illustrious career. The left-handed batter has featured in nearly every major franchise league worldwide, with the majority of his T20 runs coming in the IPL for RCB and Punjab Kings (PBKS).

On Shubhankar Mishraโs YouTube channel, Chris Gayle was asked about his favorite IPL opponent to dominate. Gayle revealed that he enjoys playing against strong teams. The veteran opener stated that he enjoyed facing Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) before joining them.

“You know, it used to be Kings XI Punjab and then I joined. Nah, I like to play against a strong opponent. Even though I donโt get it so often, but Mumbai,” Gayle said.
When asked whether he enjoyed facing Jasprit Bumrah, Gayle said that defeating the Mumbai Indians gave him a greater sense of satisfaction because they are such strong opponents.
“Yeah, when you beat Mumbai, it’s a better feeling. You know, they are the big guns,” Gayle said.

When asked about his most memorable T20 leagues, Chris Gayle mentioned the IPL and CPL. Gayle stated that he won his first title with Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League. He also recalled his successful run with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, despite not winning a trophy.
“Well, I’m going to mention two. It’s the IPL and CPL. I used to play for the Jamaica Tallawahs. Played for them the first time and won the title as well. The first to actually lift the cup in the CPL. So that was something fantastic.”
“I didn’t get a trophy with RCB, but I had a phenomenal run with them. Some great times, met some great people. So yeah, it was just fantastic.”

Gayle had an IPL career from 2009 to 2021, representing Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings. The southpaw scored 4,965 runs in 142 matches, including six centuries and 31 fifties, and holds the record for most sixes in IPL history with 357.
Gayle smashed an unbeaten 175 against Pune Warriors, setting the record for the highest individual score in a T20 match. He played 85 games for RCB, scoring 3,163 runs at an average of 43.33 with a strike rate of 152.73.
The left-handed batter featured in four seasons for PBKS, scoring 1,339 runs in 41 matches at an average of 36.18, including one century and 10 fifties. He last played his IPL match for PBKS against the Mumbai Indians in 2021.
Overall, Gayle amassed 14,562 runs from 463 T20 games, including 22 centuries and 88 fifties, holding the records for most T20 runs and centuries.
