Danny Barlow released from UFC days after last fight

by

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) prospect Danny Barlow — who has competed at both Welterweight and Middleweight — has been removed from the UFC’s active roster just days after competing, according to Sherdog’s Tom Feely. That means he has been released from his respective contract, and/or the promotion decided not to extend it.

Barlow (9-2) earned his UFC ticket in emphatic fashion, knocking out Raheam Forest in under two minutes on Contender Series. He followed that up with an explosive UFC debut, battering and finishing Josh Quinlan at UFC 298 (watch highlights) to announce himself as a serious prospect.

However, the Memphis native struggled to maintain that early momentum. He missed weight for his sophomore appearance against Nikolay Veretennikov and turned in a lackluster decision win, then suffered a knockout loss to Sam Patterson in his third Octagon outing (watch highlights).

At 30 years old, Barlow could easily return to the regional scene to rebuild momentum and earn another shot at the big show — or perhaps test free agency in a PFL Welterweight or Middleweight tournament next year.

Nevertheless, Barlow exits UFC with a 2-2 record.
