San Antonio made a move for PG De’Aaron Fox at the NBA Trade Deadline back in February. Now, the Spurs have invested in him further for the long term with a max extension going into his first full season with the franchise.

Per ESPN’s Shams Charania according to his representation in Rich Paul at Klutch Sports, Fox has inked a four-year, maximum contract extension worth $229 million with San Antonio. That will set him as a piece for the Spurs through the rest of the decade until 2030.

β€œBREAKING: San Antonio Spurs star De’Aaron Fox has agreed to a four-year, $229 million maximum contract extension with the franchise, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told ESPN,” Charania tweeted on Monday afternoon. β€œThe max deal secures Fox’s future in San Antonio through the 2029-30 season.”

β€œFox and Paul were able to navigate a trade to his preferred destination of San Antonio in February and then secure this long-term extension months later β€” in a state with no income tax compared to his prior California residence,” wrote Charania later.
