Zebre Parma were round one winners in the 2025-2025 United Rugby Championship (URC). The Italian side defeated Scottish team Edinburgh 31-28. The winning points came from the boot of Martín Roger. The new recruit landed a 79th minute penalty to put his team ahead. Zebre Parma held on for the win.

ARGENTINE CONTRIBUTIONS

Martín Roger was not the only Argentine involved in the win. Prop Juan-Manuel Pitinari was a try scorer for Zebre Parma while flanker Bautista Stavile was named Man-of-the-Match. Guido Volpi was a replacement back-rower.

Zebre Parma also recently recruited Franco Carrera from Super Rugby Americas. He is yet to make his URC debut. He trained with Los Pumas earlier this year. Meanwhile, the trio of Stavile, Pitinari and Volpi are all eligible for Italy. The club is also home to Gonzalo García who is Argentina’s first-choice scrum-half. García is out of the final round of the Rugby Championship.

Martín Roger is the older brother of rookie Pumas fly half, Nicolás Roger. Both played Super Rugby Americas with Martín Roger signing to play in Italy. The photo below shows Martín Roger playing for Uruguayan side Peñarol.

In the event that Martín Roger receives regular game time and play well then he could earn call-up for the Argentina XV or even Los Pumas in November. He is one to follow in the URC season. It continues this coming Sunday with Zebre Parma playing at home against the Johannesburg side, the Lions on Sunday, October 05.
