LAS VEGAS – Derrick Lewis has a problem with the oddsmakers ahead of UFC 324.
“The Black Beast,” who faces Waldo Cortes-Acosta on the main card, enters Saturday’s event at T-Mobile Arena as a sizable underdog, averaging around +240 on most sportsbooks. This doesn’t sit well with Lewis (29-12 MMA, 20-10 UFC), and he wonders why Cortes-Acosta (16-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) is the favorite to win the bout.

“I don’t be seeing what these oddsmakers be seeing when they’re picking against me,” Lewis said at UFC 324 media day on Wednesday. “Every time, I’m like, ‘What in the hell are they talking about?’ I just watched the same video, the same fights that these people been watching. Are you really serious betting against me like that? Like once again, Saturday you will see. He should’ve had no business in the cage with me.”
Lewis, a former UFC heavyweight title challenger and record holder for the most knockouts in UFC history, believes his experience will play a big factor on fight night. He feels he’s faced opponents like Cortes-Acosta in the past.
“I don’t care, but this guy right here, he reminds me a lot of a Roy Nelson, the way his style is a little bit,” Lewis said . “The way he winds up his right hand. It’s just like Roy Nelson, so it ain’t nothing I never seen before.”
Lewis expects things to go his way at UFC 324 and quickly. He’s predicting a finish over the Dominican fighter.

“First-round knockout,” Lewis said. “He’s going to try to say I poked him in the eye, but it’s not going to be an eye poke. Watch.”
