Dillon Brooks made a tough basket on Friday and celebrated accordingly. And at significant cost.
The NBA announced Friday it is fining the Phoenix Suns guard $25,000 for making “a lewd gesture on the playing court” during his team’s 133-98 win over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday. This is that lewd gesture, made from the floor after a wild off-balance shot in the paint:
Per Spotrac, the fine is the 105th of Brooks’ nine-year NBA career, though the vast majority of those are due to automatic fines from technical fouls.

That “lewd” celebration was only one part of a huge night from Brooks, who continued one of the best runs of his career with 32 points on 12-of-18 shooting against the Pacers. He’s a major reason why the Suns have begun the season 8-5, a surprisingly competitive start for a team that was supposed to be rebuilding after the Kevin Durant trade.
Brooks joined the Suns last offseason as part of that Durant trade, alongside another wing in Jalen Green. Both have dealt with injuries this season — Brooks with a core muscle strain and Green with a hamstring strain — but in their nine combined games they’re averaging 35.8 points total.
