Djokovic Smashes Record for Top 4 Year-End Finishes – Tennis Now

by

It wasn’t Novak Djokovic’s greatest season of all-time, but 2025 was still another record-smashing campaign, one in which the de facto tennis GOAT continued to solidify his place in the sports’ record books.

Djokovic turned 38 in May of this year, but didn’t let his age slow him down (too much) at the majors, where he reached the semifinals at all four Slams, or in the tournaments, where he won his 100th and 101st career ATP titles at Geneva and Athens respectively.

In total, Djokovic went 39-11 on the season, and became the oldest ATP title winner in the Open era when he won the trophy in Athens in early November.

The Grand Slam king also became the oldest player to reach the semis at all four majors, an incredible feat by all measures, even if he wasn’t able to crack the code of Sincaraz at any of the sports four Grand Slams this year.

There was also a rankings milestone at the end of the season as well, as Djokovic slipped in as year-end No.4 in the rankings, breaking the record for most Top 4 finishes in ATP history with 16. Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer each achieved the feat 15 times.

Half of Djokovic’s Top 4 finishes—eight—were at No. 1, another all-time record. Federer and Nadal each have five No. 1 finishes.

And the end is not even looming on the horizon as Djokovic has made public his dream scenario of finishing his career at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Will the 24-time major champion remain a Top 5 player for the next two years? Can he win another major? Will he rack up more titles?

Thankfully, tennis fans will get to ponder this questions, and savor the intrigue, as Djokovic continues to break through boundaries during his illustrious career.
