Since transferring from Mississippi State in the spring, wide receiver Mario Craver has impressed the Texas A&M roster and coaching staff with his lightning-quick speed.
According to Reel Analytics, he was the second-fastest receiver in college football during Week 2, as the sophomore from Birmingham, Alabama, reached a speed of 21.8 mph on his 72-yard receiving touchdown. During his successful display of speed and athleticism at Kyle Field against Utah State, he also secured his second consecutive contest with over 100 yards receiving and at least one touchdown.

Craver’s 236 yards on 13 receptions through two games in the Maroon and White place him at No. 2 in receiving yards in the Southeastern Conference. He also ranks first in the league with three total receiving touchdowns, alongside teammate KC Concepcion.
During his time at MSU, Craver played in nine games with three starts and hauled in 17 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns. His impact as a freshman for the Bulldogs in 2025 proved that he would be a massive contributor and could excel against SEC competition.
As the Aggies travel to South Bend, Indiana, to take on No. 8 Notre Dame this Saturday, Craver has the potential to be a mismatch nightmare for the Fighting Irish secondary. Notre Dame ranks 77th in FBS with 205.0 passing yards allowed per game. Although Marcus Freeman’s team has only played one contest so far in 2025, a 27-24 loss at No. 5 Miami, Texas A&M’s wide receiving corps could be one of the determinants of the outcome in the Week 3 contest between the two top-25 programs.

Following Texas A&M’s 42-24 win over UTSA in the season opener, head coach Mike Elko spoke highly of transfer wide receivers like Craver and Concepcion.
“We have a lot of confidence in those guys. Ashton (Bethel-Roman) and Terry (Bussey), too. Izaiah Williams keeps coming. We feel that group is in a better position than when we got here. It was good to see those guys go out there and do what they did.”
This success in the passing game has been a welcome sign for the Aggie coaching staff and fans so far this season. However, having guys like Craver surrounding sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed has allowed the young gunslinger to display his arm talent. Through just two contests, Reed has thrown 509 passing yards and seven touchdowns, which ranks second in the conference.
If Craver can continue this trend, this will likely not be the last time he lands on the list of the top-five fastest college football wideouts throughout his sophomore campaign in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
