Donte Johnson kicked off his octagon run in positive fashion at UFC Fight Night 263 with a stoppage win over Sedriques Dumas.
After earning a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in August, and at heavyweight, Johnson (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) dropped down to the middleweight division for the matchup with Dumas (10-4 MMA, 3-4 UFC) at the UFC Apex.
It was a forgettable first round, but in the second Johnson took advantage of Dumas leaving his neck open from a head lock position and got the guillotine choke for the tap at the 1:25 mark of Round 2 (via X):
Following his successful performance, Johnson reflected on the win and keeping his 100 percent career stoppage rate in tact with his first submission.
“Next time, there can’t be as much hesitation,” Johnson said in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. “It’s nice to do it on a stage like this, and we’ve got a toolbox.”
