It was a fantastic weekend for Ohio State football on and off the field. After the Buckeyes beat up on Penn State on Saturday to the tune of a 38-14 win, the program then picked up two big wins on the recruiting trail on Sunday.
Offensive line coach Tyler Bowen landed two huge commitments in the 2027 class, starting with four-star offensive tackle Kellen Wymer. A northern Ohio native from Liberty Center, Wymer is the No. 10 IOL and the No. 5 in-state player in the cycle, per the 247Sports Composite.
Standing at 6-foot-5, 265-pounds, Wymer holds more than a dozen offers to his name, including the likes of Auburn, Indiana, Michigan, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and others. Wymer actually grew up rooting for the Wolverines, having lived so close to the Michigan border, but it was the Buckeyes who won out in the end even after Michigan extended him an offer this past Friday.

”In all honesty I grew up a Michigan fan, but after going to Ohio State and listening to their video before camp I got chills,” Wymer told 247Sports after receiving his Ohio State offer in June. “In that moment I knew I could see myself playing here and being a Buckeye.”
Playing left tackle at Liberty Center, Wymer helped lead the Tigers to a 10-0 regular season and the No. 1 seed in the OHSAA Division V playoffs. The postseason is still ongoing for Wymer, as Liberty Center will host Oak Harbor in the second round on Friday, but he still made time to visit Ohio State for the Penn State game this past weekend.
“Honestly everything,” Wymer told On3 of what stood out about the Buckeyes. “The culture there is unmatched along with the brotherhood. Ohio State isn’t just a football team it’s a family.”
Not even five minutes after Wymer’s announcement, Ohio State landed a second offensive lineman in the 2027 class when three-star IOL Mason Wilt announced his pledge to the Buckeyes. Also an in-state prospect, Wilt is the No. 27 IOL and the No. 15 player in Ohio in the cycle, per the 247Sports Composite.
Despite his three-star rating, Wilt owns an impressive offer sheet, including the likes of Cincinnati, Duke, Florida State, Penn State, UNC and others. Unlike Wymer, who grew up rooting for the wrong side of the rivalry, Ohio State has always been a dream school for the Saint Clairsville native.

“Every time I go there, they show me so much love,” Wilt told 247Sports. “They care about me a lot and they want me really badly. I grew up an Ohio State fan and so did my whole family. I just really like their coaching staff, they are the best coaching staff in the country. And they’re probably going to win a national championship again. I hope so, at least.”
Wilt called Bowen on Thursday to let him know he had come to a decision, but decided to wait until after his visit on Saturday for the Penn State game to make things official. Ryan Day was obviously excited to learn about the commitment for the fast rising prospect.
Wymer and Wilt are the fourth and fifth members of Ohio State’s 2027 class, joining wide receiver Jamier Brown, quarterback Brady Edmunds and safety Angelo Smith. The Buckeyes’ five-man group currently ranks No. 3 in the country, and they hold commitments from two of the top five in-state players in the cycle with Brown and Wymer in the fold.
