A former Fossil Ridge basketball player has blossomed at the collegiate level.
Drew Larson was one of the best junior college players in the western region at Northwest College and was voted the top men’s college basketball player from Fort Collins-area high schools during the 2025 season in the Coloradoan and Blue Federal Credit Union Summer Series poll.

The ex-SaberCat had an outstanding sophomore season.
Larson averaged 15.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting over 57% overall and 44% beyond the arc in 31 games last season.
He helped the Trappers go 19-12 overall and make NJCAA postseason regional play. His breakout season also earned him recognition as Northwest College’s Men’s Athlete of the Year.
While Larson’s two-year junior college stint in Wyoming is done, the 6-foot-7 wing parlayed his success into an NCAA Division I transfer home at Niagara University.
Larson will play for former Duke star and Purple Eagles’ head coach Greg Paulus, and Niagara will even play at Duke in the Blue Devils’ famed Cameron Indoor Stadium this upcoming season.

Larson, part of two SaberCat state runner-up squads from 2022-23, beat out former Fossil Ridge and Northwest College teammate Colin Hayes among others in the poll.
He got 57.3% of the vote in the Blue FCU Summer Series vote, besting four other nominees and men’s college basketball standouts from the Fort Collins area:
-
Parker Davis, Casper College (Rocky Mountain) (Runner-up at 15.7%)
-
David Hageman, Hastings College (Windsor)
-
Colin Hayes, Northwest College (Fossil Ridge)
-
Jaden Kennis, CSU Pueblo (Windsor)
