Drew McIntyre didn’t hold back when it came time to talk about CM Punk during his Cheap Heat Live interview with Peter Rosenberg. With WrestlePalooza looming and a WWE Title shot against Cody Rhodes on deck, McIntyre used the platform to torch Punk’s reputation in one of the most savage interviews of his career.
It all started when Rosenberg jokingly asked who was more of a curmudgeon backstage—Drew or Punk. McIntyre didn’t hesitate:
“CM Punk. An actual piece of crap. He wakes up and thinks, ‘How can I make people’s day miserable today?’ Especially my own. Because if he added just a little bit of positivity in his life and appreciation for what he’s got—especially today—then maybe he’d freaking smile once or twice backstage.”
Drew didn’t stop there. He described avoiding Punk at all costs backstage and painted him as someone radiating constant misery:
“Whenever I see him from a distance now, because I don’t want to get close to him or punch his stupid face, the guy just looks constantly miserable—like he hasn’t slept in three weeks. I’ve actually not slept. I’ve had a really busy week. He looks like he hasn’t slept in ten years because he doesn’t. He just sits miserable thinking, ‘How can I make everyone’s life around me miserable?’”
McIntyre also addressed the moment Punk cost him the WWE Championship, only for karma to come back around in poetic fashion:
“I celebrate the fact that karma got him when he got cashed in on. He lost the title quicker than I did at WrestleMania—five minutes and 46 seconds over here—because of CM Punk. Of the many times I was screwed out of the WWE Championship at WrestleMania no less.”
Drew’s fury wasn’t just about that one incident. He detailed how Punk attacked him with a cast and how that ambush led to him getting cashed in on:
“Then he attacked me from behind. Bashed me in the head with his stupid cast from his little weak tricep that keeps tearing. And then I got cashed in on.”
From Drew’s perspective, it all comes back to one thing: Punk got what he deserved.
“Then karma came and got him. And karma’s come back around. ’Cause I’ve been positive. I’ve worked hard. I’ve done my time. I’ve paid my dues—25 years. And what’s happened? Timing has come to Drew McIntyre right on ESPN, right at WrestlePalooza, my WWE Championship match.”
Drew McIntyre isn’t asking for sympathy—he’s demanding respect. With ESPN exposure, a massive platform at WrestlePalooza, and CM Punk firmly in his crosshairs, Drew’s mission isn’t about pleasing the fans anymore—it’s personal.
