Thanks to high-level recruiting in both the high school and transfer ranks, the Oregon Ducks have one of the most talented secondaries in the country. In fact, they rank No. 1 in pass defense through ten weeks, surrendering just 124.6 passing yards per game.
And that doesn’t mean they’re pausing recruiting efforts to further strengthen their secondary. Quite the opposite, as they were included in the final five schools for 2027 four-star cornerback JuJu Johnson. Standing 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, Johnson is the 11th-ranked cornerback and ninth-ranked player in California, per 247 Sports.

Oregon was listed alongside Nebraska, Arizona State, Oklahoma and Michigan.
Johnson is an extremely explosive athlete with the ability to play cornerback, safety and wide receiver as he’s done at Long Beach Poly High School. Also a standout track athlete, Johnson has a personal best time of 10.50 in the 100-meter dash and 21.25 in the 200-meter dash.
The Ducks entered the picture for the recruitment of Johnson relatively early, offering him on August 8, 2024. They were among six other programs to offer him on that day.
If Johnson were to commit, Oregon’s secondary will be loaded by the time he gets to Eugene.

If everyone is retained, 2025 five-star Na’eem Offord, four-star Brandon Finney Jr., four-star Dorian Brew and 2026 four-star Davon Benjamin will be on the roster. That’s excluding the use of the transfer portal, as head coach Dan Lanning has dipped into the portal to add to that position group with both upperclassmen Theran Johnson and Jadon Cannady arriving in 2025.
Though competition will be high for play time, it would be a significant win for Lanning to secure the commitment of Johnson in order to further add talent and depth at the cornerback position.
