Less than 24 hours after becoming a UFC fighter, Baisangur Susurkaev already has his first matchup – and it’s this weekend at UFC 319.
Susurkaev (9-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) was the shining star of Tuesday’s Dana White’s Contender Series as the only fighter to record a finish. After awarding him a UFC contract, promotion CEO Dana White gushed over Susurkaev’s performance and potential, even stating on the broadcast that the matchmakers were eager to get him into the octagon as soon as possible.
After taking his DWCS fight on four days’ notice, he will now take his first fight in the same amount of time to face fellow newcomer Eric Nolan. The middleweight bout will be the 15th of the UFC 319 lineup, which takes place at United Center in Chicago. MMA Junkie confirmed the news with two sources following a first report from X user @zaclikesmma.
Susurkaev stopped Murtaza Talha with a perfectly-placed body kick in the opening round of his DWCS appearance. The undefeated 24-year-old has only gone the distance once in his professional career.
On the opposite side of the octagon will be Nolan (8-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who recently captured the CFFC welterweight title in May. Currently riding a four-fight winning streak, Nolan, 27, has finished three straight opponents.
With the addition, the current UFC 319 lineup includes:
