Certain games in the college football season get circled on the calendar from the moment the schedules are announced, and the Week 5 clash between the Oregon Ducks and Penn State Nittany Lions is certainly one of those.
A rematch of the Big Ten Conference Championship game a year ago, Penn State gets ready to host the Ducks in what looks to be a top-five matchup on September 27, a game that will have significant ramifications when it comes to who will make it back to the Big Ten title game in 2025 and have an inside track to the College Football Playoff.

The early betting lines had the Nittany Lions as 4.5-point favorites over the visiting Ducks, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, but that has shifted slightly in Oregon’s favor over the past week. Now, FanDuel has Penn State favored by only 3.5 points at home.
Both teams are undefeated at this point in the season, and while Penn State has a bye week to prepare for the Ducks to come to town, Oregon will host the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday in a game where they are 35.5-point favorites to win.
While both teams rank well inside the top 10 and have looked like two of the best programs in the nation this year, neither has been tested just yet. Oregon has rattled off dominant wins against Montana State, Oklahoma State, and Northwestern, while Penn State has rolled over Nevada, Florida International, and Villanova.
We will see what it looks like when both of these teams face some competition on their own level, but if last year’s 45-37 Oregon victory in the Big Ten Title Game is any indication, then it should be an incredible matchup on Saturday night in Beaver Stadium.
