PHILADELPHIA — The Phillies on Tuesday named Edwar Gonzalez as their new assistant hitting coach.
Gonzalez, 42, spent this year as the Philliesā Minor League director of hitting development. He joined the organization before the 2023 season, first serving as Latin America hitting coordinator and special advisor to international scouting before becoming assistant director of hitting development in ’24.
Gonzalez previously served as the Marlinsā assistant hitting coach in 2022.
Before spending three years with the Marlins (2020-22), Gonzalez spent nine seasons (2011-19) working in the Yankeesā Minor League system.
Gonzalez will work alongside hitting coach Kevin Long and assistant hitting coach Rafael Pena.
