NEW COMMIT: Freestyler and backstroker Ella Butcher has pledged her verbal commitment to the University of Utah beginning in Fall 2027. The Futures qualifier is a native of Centerton, Ark.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Utah!! I am incredibly grateful for my parents who have always encouraged and supported me through my swimming career. I truly would not be here without my amazing family, teammates, and coaches. A big thanks to the Utah staff for this amazing opportunity! Go Utes!”

Butcher trains year-round with the Razorback Aquatic Club Aquahawgs. She most recently won the 100 back and the 100 free at Beaman Toyota Meet of Champions last month. Last summer, she was a six-time finalist at Justin Futures where her highest finish was a third-place showing in the 100m back. Prior to that meet, Butcher had other strong showings at Columbia Sectionals and Arkansas Long Course Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.04
  • 100 free – 51.35
  • 200 free – 1:52.26
