Ella Butcher, Arkansas 6A State Champion, Selects Utah for 2027
NEW COMMIT: Freestyler and backstroker Ella Butcher has pledged her verbal commitment to the University of Utah beginning in Fall 2027. The Futures qualifier is a native of Centerton, Ark.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Utah!! I am incredibly grateful for my parents who have always encouraged and supported me through my swimming career. I truly would not be here without my amazing family, teammates, and coaches. A big thanks to the Utah staff for this amazing opportunity! Go Utes!”
Butcher trains year-round with the Razorback Aquatic Club Aquahawgs. She most recently won the 100 back and the 100 free at Beaman Toyota Meet of Champions last month. Last summer, she was a six-time finalist at Justin Futures where her highest finish was a third-place showing in the 100m back. Prior to that meet, Butcher had other strong showings at Columbia Sectionals and Arkansas Long Course Championships.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 24.04
- 100 free – 51.35
- 200 free – 1:52.26
- 100 back – 56.26
- 200 back – 2:02.23
Currently a junior at Bentonville West High School, Butcher won the 200 free and was the 100 free runner-up at the Arkansas 6A State Championships. She finished third in the 200 IM and fourth in the 500 free at the state meet as a freshman.
Utah finished fifth at the 2025 Big 12 Championships. Her best time are just on the brink of scoring range at the conference meet.
