Eric Bischoff Pushes Back on Claims Road Dogg Lacks Creative Backbone After WWE Unreal Backlash

by

WWE Unreal season two brought a lot of conversation points coming out of the Netflix showโ€™s premiere. Road Dogg has received some backlash, and heโ€™s already taken to defending himself. Now, Eric Bischoff is weighing in on things.

During a recent discussion about WWE Unreal season 2, Road Dogg saw a spotlight that fans have criticized him for. In the show, Road Dogg suggested Chelsea Green should win the U.S. Title back from Zelina Vega. Road Dogg backed down from the idea after Triple H said that sheโ€™s already beat everyone on her level, and Road Dogg backed down. This brought fans to call him out for not having a creative backbone.

Triple H questioned the idea and pushed back with, โ€œWho does she work with?โ€ The question implied Chelsea had already faced most available opponents, making another title run harder to map out.

Road Dogg responded to the point by saying, โ€œI see what youโ€™re saying. I donโ€™t like it, but I agree.โ€ That criticism sparked backlash of its own, and Eric Bischoff stepped in to address it directly during 83 Weeks. Bischoff argued that people were drawing big conclusions from a small segment.

“You’re not going to see all of the meetings in every minute of [WWE creative discussions]. We didn’t even see all of that meeting. We saw a one or two-minute clip and now people have drawn conclusions that, ‘Oh, Road Dogg’s not creative. He couldn’t come up with new opponents.’ Wait a minute. What? He was advocating that they should put the belt on her. And when they pushed back, you’re like, ‘Well, he didn’t have any ready-made ideas?'”

Eric Bischoff also pointed out the scale of what fans did not see, saying, โ€œThatโ€™s one conversation in one meeting over the course of 40 hours of meetings that one week.โ€ Bischoff closed by noting the frustration that comes with the job and public reaction/

You can’t win. You just can’t win. I hope you get a good big kick out of being on TV and telling your friends and family that they can watch you on TV, because that’s all you’re gonna get out of it. The rest of it’s going to be really frustrating and not much fun.”

We will have to see what happens in the future. Unreal Season 3 is coming, and John Cenaโ€™s farewell tour will get a spotlight next time around. It will be interesting to see what topics weโ€™re talking about after that drops.
