Maybe the 118th edition of the Ohio State vs. Michigan football rivalry isn’t as big as some of the massive ones of the past, but this one still has a ton riding on the line. If you want further proof, then ESPN’s popular College GameDay show just told you everything you need to know by the announcement that it will be live from Ann Arbor for the matchup between the Buckeyes and Wolverines on Saturday.
Ohio State is ranked No. 1 and has already done plenty to be included in the College Football Playoff field. However, the Buckeyes don’t have to beat the Wolverines Saturday to get to Indianapolis for a chance to win the Big Ten Championship game and become conference champions because a Washington upset of Oregon would also send them there.

But who really wants to back in? A win against Michigan would likely also wrap up a top-four seed and a bye in the CFP bracket.
Meanwhile, the Wolverines are currently on the outside looking in when it comes to the potential of making the CFP. They are currently ranked No. 18 in the CFP rankings and likely need to get up inside the top ten to be assured a spot. Beating the No. 1 team in the country would be a huge resume builder for the CFP committee, and if Michigan can beat OSU, then have Washington knock off Oregon, then there’s an opportunity to go to Indy and win that for an automatic bid.
So, yeah — there are still considerable things on the line. The game at Noon Saturday is already a part of the Big Noon Kickoff game, with the Big Noon crew on hand, so it’ll be a crowded affair with ESPN also setting up shop somewhere in the shadow of the “Big House.”
