Barely a whimper greeted the referee’s full-time whistle. Large swathes of blue seats were long since vacated as the Rangers faithful headed for an early exit.
Their side were well beaten here this evening and never really looked on the same level as their Serie A opponents.
A two-goal half-time deficit was never in danger, although there was an improvement in the home side after the break.
Not hard, given the gulf between these two sides in the first period.
Rangers’ 26-year wait for a home victory over Italian opposition continues. As does their search for a first Europa League point, with Braga up next here later this month.
It’s also a sobering and record-breaking seventh straight European defeat for the Ibrox side.
