Nadia Petrova is not ruling out the possibility of Daniil Medvedev winning another Grand Slam after ending his 2025 season in a positive way.
After picking up a couple of early Grand Slam exits in 2025, Medvedev fired his long-time coach Gilles Cervara in September. Since then, the former world No. 1 has been working with Thomas Johansson.
The coaching move seemingly helped Medvedev, who ended his two-and-a-half-year title drought by winning Almaty. The Russian, who plummeted to No. 18 after the US Open, has also since improved five spots and returned to No. 13 in the world.
Petrova, a former two-time Grand Slam semifinalist and a former world No. 3, was asked about the possibility of the 2021 US Open champion winning another Major in 2026.
Petrova: Medvedev has the arsenal, the experience and the fearlessness
"Daniil Medvedev. He's already won Grand Slams and reached finals. Now he has a new team, and he'll have good preparation. I'm sure Daniil can do it. He has the arsenal, the experience, and the fearlessness. So he could win more Grand Slams," Petrova told Championat.
Petrova also named Alexander Bublik as someone who could possibly break out in 2026 and win a Grand Slam. This past season, Bublik won four ATP titles and finished the year enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 11 in the world. When it comes to Grand Slams, the Kazakh reached the French Open quarterfinal and the US Open round-of-16 – those runs came to an end with losses to Jannik Sinner.
"Let's also take Alexander Bublik. If Sasha has the mood and desire—and he's proven that this season—he can beat anyone. Now he just needs to figure out his strength and motivation for the two-week tournaments," Petrova explained.
In the same interview, Russian tennis legend Petrova also named Ben Shelton as someone to look out for in 2026.
