Ex-UFC and WWE star who beat Jon Jones twice open to giving him a chance for revenge

Jon Jones doesn’t have many losses on his record, but the handful of men who beat him always seem willing to take another shot.

Jones has recently stirred up his old feud with Daniel Cormier, even though he’d previously said he was ready to move on from their rivalry. Cormier later revealed that he took the coaching role opposite Jones after being challenged to do it, saying:

“You know what got me? Because you challenged me. You told me I wouldn’t do it. You literally said, ‘I bet you won’t do it.’ I said, ‘I’ll show you.’ That’s why.”

The tension between them didn’t take long to spill over into the gym. The two former UFC champions even agreed to box during an argument while filming the new season.

Since then, other MMA fighters have shown interest in facing Jones under a format that seems more likely than ever to put together a third fight between him and Cormier—including one who has already beaten him before.

Chad Bronstein, the co-founder of Real American Freestyle, recently hinted at the possibility of a wrestling match between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.

Getting both fighters to agree would likely require a significant payday, but the history between them could provide enough motivation to make it happen.

‘Bones’ would be giving the man that he beat at UFC 182 the opportunity to finally get some revenge by recording a victory over him.

Another ex-UFC athlete is open to the idea of extending the same offer to Jones, having defeated him twice in high school wrestling.

Riddle hasn’t fought since 2014, with his last win inside the Octagon coming at UFC 154 over John Maguire several years before he fully transitioned into professional wrestling and made his way into WWE.

Dana White and the UFC might not be quite as positive about this opportunity

Real American Freestyle has been able to generate interest by bringing current and former UFC fighters into the promotion.

The two promotions appear to have a strong working relationship, which has been massively beneficial for RAF thus far.

However, the UFC have enforced certain barriers in the past when it comes to athletes on their roster wanting to compete against certain names.

Given Matt Riddle’s prior disputes with Dana White since he left the promotion, it seems unlikely that they’d want the consensus greatest of all time to square off with him.
