Daniel Cormier had some perhaps debatable choices when listing the greatest fighters in each weight class.
In an interview with Paramount UFC, Cormier was asked to explain his choices when discussing six different weight classes in MMA. Here’s whom former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Cormier selected as the best in each weight class.

Featherweight:
“Alexander Volkanovski. He’s the greatest, man. It’s between him, Jose Aldo, Max Holloway. He’s got eight title-fight wins now, four of them came against Max Holloway and Jose Aldo. So, if you got four wins over the two other guys that are considered in that conversation, I think that’s what separates you.”
Lightweight:
“Khabib Nurmagomedov. Undefeated, undisputed champion. Beat Conor McGregor in the biggest fight of all time. They sold three-and-a-half million (2.4) pay-per-views. That’s an astonishing number of pay-per-views. There’s only been one fight that sold more and that was Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao. Greatest fighter of all time in my opinion is Khabib.”

Welterweight:
“Georges St-Pierre. Georges St-Pierre was the best. Those guys couldn’t fight him. He was ahead of his time, great wrestling, great cardio, great conditioning, striking. He just had it all.”
Middleweight:
“Anderson Silva. I was at that fight and Roy Jones Jr. was in the front row because he wanted to box Anderson Silva. That’s how big of a star Anderson became to mixed martial arts.”
Light heavyweight:
“So, that’s a tricky one. Most people would think it will be Jon Jones. But Jon Jones and I have a very, very difficult history with each other so I would not want to say that because he took steroids. But, if he ain’t, then it’s me.”

Heavyweight:
“Stipe Miocic. See, that’s the difference. So, Stipe Miocic beat me two times. I lost to two guys: Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. Jon Jones had all that stuff tied to his name, Stipe didn’t. So, I’ll give Stipe credit because he beat me fair and square.”
