Ex-WWE Star Says He’s “Absolutely” Open to Joining AEW

Mr. Kennedy is ready to talk… and possibly walk into AEW.

The former WWE star — now going by his real name Ken Anderson — recently opened up about his desire to join All Elite Wrestling during an appearance on Elite Wrestle Talk with 99.9 Punk World Radio FM. While no official contact has been made by AEW, Anderson made it crystal clear that he’s more than willing to answer the call.

“No, they haven’t. And yes, absolutely [I’d be interested].”

Anderson explained that his desire to work with AEW is rooted in his passion for storytelling and entertainment — not just nostalgia. He believes there’s still fuel in the tank, and he’s itching to perform alongside the next generation.

“Like I said, I’m in the business to… I just want to tell stories. I want to entertain people. I still have gas in the tank and I feel like there’s some opportunities there with some people. So yeah, definitely—that’s something that I would totally entertain.”

When asked who he’d like to face in AEW, Anderson name-dropped Jon Moxley first — but made it very clear he’s not interested in barbed wire and broken glass.

“I like Jon Moxley’s stuff. I like that edgy, that realism. Something like that. I would love to work with him—minus the deathmatch stuff. I’m not particularly looking to do any of that kind of stuff. But sort of no-bullsht, mash-mouth wrestling style—I like that.”*

The most personal part of his response came when he turned the spotlight toward his own students — many of whom are already on AEW’s roster.

“I would really love to work with my students. You know, Darius and Dante Martin are my… Darius is my first graduate. Dante is my 15th or 16th graduate from the academy. Julia Hart is somebody who would’ve graduated had the pandemic not occurred. I’d love to work with those people. That’s another sort of avenue I’d love to do.”

Anderson hasn’t been part of a major U.S. promotion since his WWE and Impact Wrestling runs, but this new openness to AEW could change that — especially if someone backstage is paying attention.
