The first World Archery executive board meeting under the leadership of newly elected president Greg Easton took place on 4 September at the competition venue of the 2025 Hyundai World Archery Championships in Gwangju.
The meeting marked the first gathering of the newly elected board members, with Easton chairing his inaugural session.
The main purpose of the meeting was onboarding the new members. Secretary general Tom Dielen provided clarifications on certain procedures, ensuring everyone was familiar with the board’s processes.
Among the key decisions, the board agreed that a meeting will be organised between the relevant committees to prepare a final proposal on the format for the combined World Archery 3D and Field Championships in 2026.
Amendments to the match-fixing rules requested by the International Olympic Committee were approved, including a change to the burden of proof, which will now be based on a balance of probabilities.
The board also approved the bidding calendar for future events. New bid requirements will be presented in December, marking the start of the next bidding process.
Additionally, the board expressed its congratulations to the World Archery staff for the successful operations during the 56th Congress, which concluded on 3 September.
The next executive board meeting is scheduled for 14-15 December in Lausanne. President Easton will coordinate with secretary general Dielen on further preparations for this end-of-year session.
