Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena will put his strap on the line against former Lightweight kingpin Islam Makhachev in the main event of the UFC 322 pay-per-view (PPV) this weekend (Sat., Nov. 15, 2025) inside the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Maddalena and Makhachev came face-to-face today, just five days ahead of their scrap on top of the Empire State Building with the NYC skyline in the background to help promote the mega fight, where Makhachev could make history as another two-division champion.
Despite being the bigger man, “JDM” doesn’t expect the size to be a difference maker.
“I think it’s actually going to be better for Islam,” Maddalena told the New York Post. “I think you can leave a lot of yourself in the weight cut, so I expect the best Islam coming up. I think he’ll be fresher, bigger, stronger. It’s not a big weight cut for me. I can sneak a few slices of pizza in today, and I’ll make the weight fine. I think I’m a good-sized welterweight and he probably will be too.”
In addition to the mega main event, a “champ-champ” second title fight is going down in the co-main event as defending Flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko puts her title on the line against former Strawweight champion Weili Zhang, who is also looking to become a two-division champion.
