NEW YORK—World No. 1 Jannik Sinner already has a bulls-eye on his back.

On Monday night, a fan attempted major larceny from Sinner’s backpack.

After Sinner wrapped up a 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 annihilation of Alexander Bublik on Arthur Ashe Stadium Court he was walking toward a few young fans to accommodate their autograph requests.

Then, the knucklehead in the photo below actually unzipped Sinner’s racquet bag as if trying to swipe some of the contents inside.

Full credit to the security guard trailing Sinner who saw the fan’s attempted thievery and immediately knocked his hand away. Watch Sinner spin away and reverse course.

There have been a few crazy incidents at this US Open, including the photographer who walked on court on match point as Benjamin Bonzi served for the match against Daniil Medvedev and the millionaire adult fan who swiped a player cap from a kid.

This brazen larceny attempt is a new low level of classless behavior.
