‘Feast’ mode! Alex Pereira, UFC light heavyweights lose to prime Daniel Cormier because ‘there’s no wrestlers’

Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira has established himself as one of the all-time greatest titleholders at 205 pounds, registering five championship victories with all five wins coming by way of knockout/technical knockout.

Too bad he would “kind of just fall down” against a prime Daniel Cormier.

“If I was at my prime in light heavyweight right now, there’s no wrestlers,” Cormier said in a Q&A for Alien Films. “I’d be just feasting on everybody. At light heavyweight, there’s no wrestlers. If I was in my prime, probably (would fight) Pereira because he’s the biggest star and you want to make the most money as a champion.”

The retired Cormier, who held championship gold at both heavyweight and light heavyweight, was an NCAA All American wrestler out of Oklahoma State and a two-time Olympic qualifier. During his UFC career, the 22-3 “DC” used his wrestling to thwart dangerous strikers like Anderson Silva (UFC 200) and Derrick Lewis (UFC 230), among others.

“There’s no wrestlers,” Cormier explained. “When I was fighting, the top five was me, [Jon] Jones, Ryan Bader was an All-American, Phil Davis was a National champion, Rashad Evans was an NCAA All-American. We had so many wrestlers. Now there’s no wrestlers so it’s like yeah, I’d go fight at light heavyweight, not heavyweight.”

Okay, but can he outwrestle fake Khamzat in a circle of dirt?
