Yet, it’s also opened the door for others to shine. According to columnist Christine Brennan, this has been the perfect moment for Kelsey Mitchell to step into the spotlight, and she’s making the most of it, finally getting the recognition and “eyeballs” her play has long deserved.
While speaking to Robin Lundberg in a recent interview, Brennan said, “Kelsey Mitchell is finally getting the eyeballs. There is one reason she is getting the eyeballs, she plays on Caitlin Clark’s team. Take it and run with it, that is a great moment.”

Kelsey Mitchell put on a show Sunday, leading the Indiana Fever to a 93-78 win over the Chicago Sky. She dropped 35 points in under 30 minutes, becoming the first player in Fever history to do so, while also adding six assists, three steals and shooting an incredible 7-of-10 from deep.
With Caitlin Clark sidelined, Mitchell has stepped up big time, averaging 20.2 points this season, third-best in the league. She’s shooting 46.8% from the field and 38.3% from three, earning her third All-Star nod and even creeping into MVP conversations.

Indiana is 14-12 and sitting third in the East, thanks largely to Mitchell’s stellar play. Paired with Aliyah Boston and a soon-to-return Clark, plus solid depth from players like Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham, the Fever are shaping up to be one of the most dangerous teams in the WNBA.
