Caitlin Clark entered the 2025 WNBA season as the face of the Indiana Fever. However, it was star guard Kelsey Mitchell who carried the team to a franchise-record 24 wins and had the Fever just a game away from the WNBA Finals.
With Clark and a number of key players like Sophie Cunningham and Sydney Colson out for the year, Mitchell took her game to the next level. Her 111 makes from beyond the arc led the WNBA as she ranked second in total points with 890 and finished third in scoring average at 20.2 points per game, breaking a franchise record set by Tamika Catchings in 2003 when the Hall-of-Famer averaged 19.7 points per game.

After capping off a historic year within the Fever franchise, Mitchell took to social media with a message where she remembered her father, Mark, who died in March 2024.
“Had to get to it different than everybody else. Grief had me excited for a small piece of it…
indifferent for majority of it. Charged it ALL to the game. Ain’t no life jacket come for me, word to Him. Pops blueprint kept me in survival mode…that survival made me. I don’t know what it all really meant….Just that it meant i stood on all 10 about it. The motto remains: shut up and go hunting. zero, gone,” she said in the caption of the post on social media.

Ahead of the 2025 WNBA season the Fever inked Mitchell to a one-year contract while head coach Stephanie White raved about her player she’s become.
“I’m thrilled that Kelsey is returning to Fever. She has been an integral part of this franchise from the moment she was drafted,” said Fever Head Coach Stephanie White. “I have watched her journey from the sideline since her time in college and have always admired her work ethic, approach to the game and the way she interacts with her teammates. I can’t wait to work with her on a daily basis.”
