Key Points:
-
Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston led the Indiana Fever through a challenging WNBA season.
-
Both will compete in Unrivaled’s 3-on-3 basketball league for its second season.
-
The Unrivaled league is now valued at $340 million and begins January 5 in Miami.
Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston were the cornerstones for the Indiana Fever this past WNBA season. With Caitlin Clark limited to just 13 games due to multiple injuries, and the Fever losing four other players to season-ending injuries, it was Mitchell and Boston who had to carry a heavy load for the team.

This resulted in Mitchell having arguably the best season of her entire eight-year career. She averaged a career-high 20.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.5 triples per game to finish fifth in the MVP vote. Boston, on the other hand, was named an All-Star for a third straight year behind averages of 15.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 steals.

With Mitchell and Boston leading the charge, the Fever were able to win their first WNBA Commissioner’s Cup title in franchise history. They finished the regular season with a 24-20 record for the No. 6 seed in the WNBA playoffs. Indiana defeated the Atlanta Dream in the first round, but they fell to the eventual champions, the Las Vegas Aces, in the semifinals after a hard-fought five-game series.

On Wednesday, Mitchell and Boston were involved in a major announcement outside the WNBA. This came in the form of Unrivaled revealing its roster for the second season in January.
Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 basketball league populated by some of the biggest stars in the WNBA, took to social media to reveal the rosters for the eight teams that will be competing this season.
Mitchell, who will be making her Unrivaled debut, is part of the Hive, which is one of two expansion teams for the second season. The Fever All-Star will suit up alongside Sonia Citron, Ezi Magbegor, Natisha Heidman, Saniya Rivers and Mo Billings. They will be coached by Rena Wakama, who is an assistant coach for the Chicago Sky.

Boston, on the other hand, is returning for her second season. Last year, she played for Lunar Owls. She will now be part of Phantom with Kelsey Plum, Satou Sabally, Dana Evans, Natasha Cloud and Kiki Irafen. Their head coach is Roneeka Hodges.
It is also worth noting that Lexie Hull and Aari McDonald are also playing in Unrivaled. Hull will return with the defending champions, Rose BC, while McDonald will be teammates with Paige Bueckers, Cameron Brink, Rickea Jackson and Kate Martin for Breeze. Fever rookie Makayla Timpson was also named part of the Developmental Pool.
Unrivaled, which announced in September that the league is now valued at a whopping $340 million after their latest round of investments, will tip off on Jan. 5 from Miami, Florida.
