Double World Junior Champion Filip Nowacki to Make Move to Loughborough Performance Centre

Double world junior champion Filip Nowacki has committed to Loughborough Performance Centre from September 2026.

The 18-year-old will join the likes of Freya Colbert, Luke Greenbank and Max and Joe Litchfield with coach Dave Hemmings at the helm.

The 18-year-old has been coached by Keiron Piper at Millfield since 2024 and will complete his A Level exams in in maths, physics and economics before representing Jersey at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The breaststroke specialist started his swimming career at Tigers SC in Jersey where he was guided by Nathan Jegou, who he credits with teaching him the fundamentals and pushing him out of his comfort zone.

In the space of around seven whirlwind weeks in the summer of 2025, he won four individual world and European junior titles in the 100 and 200m breaststroke, rattled Ross Murdoch’s senior British 200 standard and broke Adam Peaty’s age group record over 100m.

In between the European and world juniors, Nowacki won eight golds among an overall haul of 11 medals representing Jersey at the Island Games.

Nowacki made his senior British debut at the European Short Course Championships in Lublin, Poland. There he set a European junior record of 2:02.96 en-route to fourth in the 200 breaststroke final.

Most recently, he competed at the Euro Meet in Luxembourg where he secured two second places in the 100 (1:00.14) and 200 (2:09.96) behind Melvin Imoudu and Caspar Corbeau respectively.

Nowacki has also joined AP Race as an ambassador. AP Race – which was founded by Ed Baxter and Peaty – which hosts clinics for grassroots upwards as well as hosting international swim meets.

Nowacki described three-time Olympic champion Peaty to Swimming World as “iconic” and “a huge inspiration.” The pair are set to lock horns at the British Championships in April and should be on opposing teams come the Commonwealth Games before possibly becoming teammates at the European Championships in Paris in August.
