Just days after the world was rocked by the death of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, new details have emerged — and his son Nick Hogan is speaking out.
On July 31, 2025, Nick Hogan took to Instagram to share a powerful update: August 1st is now officially recognized as “Hulk Hogan Day” in the state of Florida. Alongside a memorandum signed by Governor Ron DeSantis, Nick reflected on his father’s connection to the Sunshine State. In the caption, Nick wrote:
“Tomorrow, August 1st, is officially ‘Hulk Hogan Day’ in the state of Florida. My dad was a true Floridian and loved his home state. Thank you for this honor @flgovrondesantis. He would be so proud of this.”
The memorandum from Governor DeSantis orders all flags across the state — including those at the Capitol and throughout Pinellas County — to be flown at half-staff on August 1 in memory of Hogan, who passed away on July 24 at the age of 71.
Meanwhile, the official cause of death has been confirmed by the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center. According to reports, Hulk Hogan — real name Terry Bollea — died of acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack.
More shocking, however, was the revelation that Hogan had been quietly battling chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. This diagnosis had never been made public prior to his passing. The report also cited a history of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a heart condition involving irregular and rapid heart rhythm.
On July 24, Hogan suffered cardiac arrest at his Clearwater home. He was rushed to Morton Plant Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival. A spokesperson for the medical examiner’s office confirmed that a cremation request had been received, stating:
“I am not aware when Mr. Bollea will be cremated.”
Fans and fellow wrestlers have been flooding social media with tributes, memories, and messages of support since the news broke. The state’s official recognition of “Hulk Hogan Day” is a fitting tribute to one of wrestling’s most iconic and controversial figures — a man whose impact stretched far beyond the ring.
