Florida State menβs basketball (7-6) closed out the first half of its season in style Monday night, rolling past Jacksonville (5-8) 87-63 at the Donald L. Tucker Center for its second straight win.
The victory gave first-year head coach Luke Loucks exactly what he wanted heading into the holiday break, which is momentum and a winning record before the Seminoles dive into a two-game gauntlet against ACC heavyweights No. 12 North Carolina and No. 6 Duke.

FSU delivered one of its cleanest games of the season. The Seminoles moved the ball fluidly by gathering 19 assists and attacking the boards with 44 rebounds all night in what some might argue was their most complete game of the season.
Four of FSUβs starters scored in double figures. Senior guard Martin Somerville set the tone early, hitting three 3-pointers on his way to 13 first-half points as the Seminoles built a 43-21 lead at the break. Somerville finished with a game-high 23 points.
Chauncey Wiggins added 16 points, while Thomas Bassong chipped in 12 and eight rebounds.
FSU wasted no time extending its lead in the second half. LaJae Jones, who scored 10 points, brought the crowd to its feet with back-to-back two-handed dunks in transition. The Seminoles led by 30 less than five minutes into the half.
