Floyd Mayweather to resume professional boxing career this summer

by

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather will resume his career as a professional this summer.

Since his last pro bout in 2017, which was against former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor, Mayweather (50-0) has competed in various exhibition bouts to stay active. He is currently expected to face fellow legend Mike Tyson in an exhibition bout this spring, reportedly taking place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on April 25.

Soon after that, Mayweather is set to resume his career as a pro boxer under the CSI Sports/FIGHT SPORTS banner, the promotion announced in a press release Friday.

“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing – from my upcoming Mike Tyson event to my next professional fight afterwards – no one will generate a bigger gate, have a larger global broadcast audience and generate more money with each event – then my events,” Mayweather said in the release. “And I plan to keep doing it with my global media partner, CSI Sports/FIGHT SPORTS.”

The press release did not specify how many fights the 48-year-old Mayweather is expected to compete in.

Following his Round 10 TKO of McGregor to reach 50-0 as a professional, Mayweather competed in exhibition bouts against Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul, Don Moore, Mikuru Asakura, Oladeji Olatunji, and most recently, John Gotti III.
