Lorenzo Musetti took an important step last year, entering the Top 10 of the ATP rankings for the first time in his career.
He has finally managed to channel his enormous talent in the right direction and has found that continuity that he had often lacked in the past. Although he failed to win a single title, the Italian ace can be really proud of what he did in 2025 and the birth of his second child represented a splendid moment off the tennis court.
The talent from Carrara was able to participate in the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin for the first time in his career, benefiting from the forfeit of Novak Djokovic who informed him of his decision during the Athens ATP 250 final. Previously, Lorenzo had reached the semifinals at Roland Garros and the quarterfinals at the US Open, showing that he has also improved a lot on hard courts.
Bertolucci opens up on Musetti
During the off-season, Musetti announced the entry of an experienced coach like José Perlas into his team and it is no secret that his main goal is to get even closer to the level of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
The Italian and the Spaniard are the two current leaders of the men's tour and dominate mainly in Grand Slam tournaments, but Musetti is very ambitious and believes he has the talent to counter them.
Speaking to 'Sky Sport Italy', former ATP ace and top analyst Paolo Bertolucci highlighted how Lorenzo is still missing something to be able to lift a Major trophy: "He has grown a lot from a physical point of view, but he lacks something to take a further step. He's an excellent player right now, but he needs something extra if he wants to win a Grand Slam title. He has to become more aggressive and play more early, having the talent to do that."
Musetti's first official tournament in 2026 is the Hong Kong ATP 250, where he has already made his doubles debut.
