Former Auburn WR set to transfer to the Texas Longhorns

by

Former Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman is transferring to the Texas Longhorns, per his Instagram account. Coleman will now be paired with Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning as they try to rebound from a disappointing season that resulted in missing the College Football Playoff.

Before committing to Texas, Coleman was rated as one of the top players in the transfer portal. 247Sports had him rated as a five-star transfer prospect and the No. 4 overall player. He is one of six receivers from the 2025 Auburn roster who left the program when the season ended. In two seasons at Auburn, he caught 93 passes for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns. He had two games with 100 yards or more for the Tigers in 2025. His best performance was in a 45-38 overtime loss to Vanderbilt. In that game, he caught 10 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown. That game was proof of how Coleman can take over a game.

Coleman was part of the 2024 recruiting class that also featured Perry Thompson, Malcolm Simmons, and Bryce Cain. Both Thompson (Minnesota) and Simmons joined Coleman by leaving the program by transferring. Coleman originally committed to Texas A&M, but when Jimbo Fisher was fired as head coach, he chose Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers. He was one of the top wide receivers coming out of high school with a stellar career at Central Phenix City under former Auburn head coach Patrick Nix. He should have a big season with the Longhorns for the 2026 season.
