The Georgia Bulldogs lost an explosive playmaker to the transfer portal in speedy wide receiver Anthony Evans, who has made an instant impact at his new school. Evan is now with the Mississippi State Bulldogs and he’s putting together an impressive season.
The junior wide receiver already has career-best numbers across the board. Evans has 42 receptions for 471 receiving yards and two touchdowns this season. Each of those numbers is a career-high for Evans, who posted nine catches for 88 yards and three rushes for 50 yards in his final season at Georgia in 2024.

The Mississippi State pass catcher ranks No. 10 in the SEC in receiving yards through the first eight weeks of the 2025 college football season. Evans has totaled over 100 receiving yards in a game twice this season. He also serves as the Bulldogs’ punt returner.
Despite Evans’ success, Mississippi State has been unable to get over the hump in SEC play. The Bulldogs are 0-3 in conference action and have a tough draw against Texas on Oct. 25.

“I think it’s just really take advantage of every opportunity,” Evans said on Mississippi State’s 0-3 SEC start, which has featured a pair of one-score SEC losses to Tennessee and Florida. “Obviously we left some plays out there and we know we’re going to get more opportunities here in the near future on Saturday as well. So just taking advantage of every opportunity going forward.”
