After serving as a graduate assistant for Evansville, former Iowa women’s basketball guard Molly Davis has been elevated to assistant coach for the Purple Aces, according to the program’s Jan. 5 announcement.
During her time with the Hawkeyes, the Midland, Mich., native averaged 4.7 points, 2.3 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game on 49.8% shooting from the field, 36.2% from 3-point territory, and 86.8% from the free-throw line. Davis made 29 starts and played in 69 games with the Hawkeyes.

Following her Iowa tenure, which included back-to-back Final Four appearances and national championship games, Davis has served on the Evansville coaching staff since 2024 as a graduate assistant while earning her Master’s degree.
“I am very excited to announce that Molly Davis has been promoted to Assistant Coach for our program,” said Evansville head coach Robyn Scherr. “She has done a tremendous job as our Graduate Assistant, and it was my goal after last season to find a way to keep her with our program. She is a hard worker, and her humility and willingness to do whatever it takes to help our program has impressed me tremendously. She has a great mind for the game and has provided a lot of valuable input in her time with us. I am thrilled that we can keep her here at UE!”

Davis and the Purple Aces faced the Hawkeyes on Nov. 9, where Iowa won handily by a score of 119-43. That Nov. 9 game was Davis’s first time back at Carver-Hawkeye Arena since her time with the Hawkeyes.
Now, as a full-time member of the Evansville coaching staff, there could certainly be future matchups with Iowa as she continues to build her coaching repertoire.
